As many of you will have noticed, there were several hours of unplanned downtime for UK mail and shared hosting services from late afternoon until late evening yesterday, Thursday 29th October.
This was caused by a defective hard disk drive. This drive was a brand new Samsung, installed last Saturday during a planned capacity upgrade. No data has been lost, and we have rebuilt a new disk array in a redundant setup. All emails which were queuing in the meantime have now been delivered.
We are sorry for this inconvenience, which affected our website and email also (to keep ourselves honest, we host our own sales website and email on the same platform as our shared UK customers). You should now find all services operating normally. Dedicated servers (i.e. non-shared) were not affected by this outage.
