Upgrading shared database server (MariaDB / MySQL) from MariaDB 10.1 to 10.2

During the next week, as part of our commitment to providing up-to-date versions of technologies in a timely fashion, we plan to carry out an upgrade of our database server for shared web hosting clients. The upgrade will be from MariaDB 10.1 to 10.2. This will make available a number of new features and other improvements. Based on the MariaDB 10.2 documentation, past upgrades, and the existing history of the 10.2 series in the time that it has been counted as stable, we are not expecting customer issues. There is no action which customers need to take. Down-time should be minimal, and will be late at night (UK time), and will only affect shared web hosting customers (dedicated/VPS customers are not affected). However, if you see any changed behaviour, please do let our support team know (providing all the relevant details that you can).
